17x22, issue 3: headline
poster publication
17x22 is a poster publication that intends to look at hidden and lost aspects of language — ‘fragments’ that have lost meaning over time (or that have taken on new meaning). Each issue of 17x22 uses a different word or concept as a starting point. The third issue is dedicated to the idea of 'headline', specifically headline of news articles. It is a parsing of 16000 or so BBC World News 'breaking news' headlines over the course of one year. Selected words were sorted by frequency, creating a textual pattern. The texture becomes indicative of the wording and content emphasis of news headlines.
